FAQs

How accurate is this comparison?
It is an estimate from indicative list pricing and standard configurations. Real numbers depend on your storage tiers, networking and commitments — send us an inventory export and we will price the actual estate.
What inputs do I need?
vCPU, RAM, storage and operating system per machine. That is enough for a defensible shape.
Why is the public-cloud figure higher than their calculator?
Because we include the parts usually left out: idle capacity, egress, and the support tier you have to buy to get help.
Does it include our own operations effort?
For self-run VMware, yes — as a line item. For a full picture across all models, use the TCO calculator.
Can we compare against a VMware renewal?
Yes. The self-run column includes platform licensing, which is the line most affected by recent renewal changes.
Is the flat fee really all-in?
Compute, storage, egress and platform support are in the fee. Managed services such as monitoring, backup and security are subscribed separately and quoted up front.
