Platform/Storage/Block Storage

The volume layer under everything you run.

Persistent block volumes that attach to any Core, Prime or GPU server — Standard and Performance tiers today, live expansion as standard and encryption available with the security services, with multi-zone replication in build.

Capabilities

What the block layer gives your workloads

Enterprise-grade storage that delivers performance, resilience and freedom — at scale.

Two tiers, one API
Standard SSD for the everyday, Performance NVMe for the hot path — pick per volume and change it later.
Right tier, right cost  →
Live expansion
Grow a volume while it is mounted. No downtime, No migration, No maintenance window.
Capacity follows the data  →
Encryption ready
Add AES-256 at rest with per-volume keys through the security services — customer-managed keys when you want to hold them.
Add-on, one click away
Detach and reattach
Move a volume between servers in the same zone — rebuild the instance without touching the data.
Data outlives the server
Replicated media
Every block is written to multiple devices, so a failed disk is a platform event, not your incident.
Durability built into the media
Sovereign placement
Volumes stay in the zone and country you choose — residency is a placement decision, made once.
Data stays where you put it
Full API & automation
Create, attach, resize and snapshot from Terraform, the CLI or your pipeline.
Storage as code
Self-service
Teams manage their own volumes, inside the quotas and policies you set.
Delegation without losing control
Snapshots & clones
Point-in-time snapshots and writable clones for safe change and instant test data.
Roll back in minutes
Resilient by designBuilt to continue, even when hardware fails.
Predictable performanceConsistent I/O for the apps that matter.
Efficient at scalePay for what you use. Scale without waste.

Compare the tiers

Standard SSD for most of it, NVMe Performance for the hot path

Two tiers are live today and a third is in build. Same API, same encryption, same sovereign placement — mix them freely across one estate.

Standard Block
SSD · The default choice

Balanced IOPS and throughput on SSD media for boot volumes, business applications and the everyday data that makes up most of an estate. Grows live as the data does.

NVMe · Milliseconds that matter

NVMe media with consistent low latency under sustained load — for databases, transactional systems and anything where queue depth shows up in the user experience.

Synchronously replicated volumes across two availability zones, so a zone event never becomes a data event. Writes acknowledge in both zones and volumes stay attachable from the survivor.

Two ways to buy

Attached volumes, or a pool you shape

Both sit inside your one flat fee — the difference is how much freedom you want inside it.

Per-volume
Attached Volume Plans
Named volumes with a fixed size and tier, attached to a specific server — sized once, running until you say otherwise.
A defined size and tier per volume
Predictable per-workload commitment
Ideal for stable estates and named systems
Best when the data footprint is known.
Pool of capacity
Storage Pool Plans
Buy a pool of capacity across tiers — then create, resize and retire any number of volumes inside it.
Any number of volumes inside the pool
Reallocate across tiers as projects change
Grow the pool at thresholds you approve
Best for changing estates and platform teams.
Who decides, who runs it

What each group gets from the data layer

Four groups shape a cloud decision. Pick the one you belong to — the platform reads differently from each seat.

One storage standard we can all defend

A single governed data layer instead of scattered arrays — in-country, SLA-backed, and priced as one flat fee the board can plan against.

FAQs

What is included with a volume?
Everything the data layer needs from day one — provisioning, replicated media, snapshots and live expansion, all inside your flat fee. When you want more, encryption, managed backup, monitoring and DR bolt straight on.
Is backup included?
No. Snapshots are a platform feature for quick rollback; backup is a managed service with retention policies, immutable copies and tested restores. Add it when you want it.
Can I change tier later?
Yes. Volumes move between Standard and Performance without recreating the data.
Can a volume move between servers?
Yes — detach and reattach within the same zone, so you can rebuild an instance without touching the data.
Where does my data live?
In the zone and country you choose. Residency and jurisdiction are placement decisions, made once.
How is it priced?
As part of one flat monthly fee, sized to your estate. We scope the footprint first — commercials follow the sizing, not the other way round.
What are the size limits and quotas?
Volumes start at 10 GB and grow live to 64 TB each, with up to 32 volumes attached per server. Quotas are yours to shape — carve pools per team or project and delegate inside them. Larger single volumes are a conversation, not a hard wall.
Can we drive it from Terraform and CI?
Yes. Every operation — create, attach, resize, snapshot, retier — is exposed through the REST API, CLI and a maintained Terraform provider, with scoped API keys per team. If the console can do it, your pipeline can do it.
How is the flat fee different from public cloud pricing?
Everything inside the plan you opt for is included — no additional charge for the components that make it up. Public clouds meter each component on consumption — IOPS, snapshots, API calls, egress — so the bill moves with usage. Here the plan is reserved for you and the figure you agreed is the figure you pay.
Where are snapshot schedules and space managed?
Snapshots are taken at the volume layer here, but schedules, retention and the space they consume are governed in the resilience services — so protection policy lives in one place across the estate. The Backup Service and Disaster Recovery pages cover that depth.
Can encryption be included in my plan?
Yes. Add the security services to your service plan and per-volume AES-256 encryption at rest is scoped into the same flat fee — with customer-managed keys when you want to hold them.
